There is nothing like the holidays without some kind of gingerbread.

Do you like to build gingerbread houses?  What about yummy gingerbread cookies?

This is the gingerbread loaf you need in your life.  This soft and moist loaf is almost cake like seasoned with ginger and nutmeg. 

This is a classic holiday flavor that you will love!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 stick of butter, softened to room temperature
  • ½ cup of molasses
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾  cup of buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, and salt
  3. In another bowl, mix together with a mixer the sugar and butter.  Then add the vanilla and the molasses.
  4. Add the eggs to the mixture.
  5. Slowly add the flour mixture into the butter/sugar bowl.
  6. Next stir in the buttermilk to the batter.
  7. Add the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  8. Bake at 350 for about an hour.
  9. Enjoy the loaf!
