Yes, are you so ready for Halloween?

One of my favorite parts about October are horror films. But, a big problem with these films are their portrayals of women. They kill off the women first and there’s a “Final Girl” that may or may not survive. Here are some Horror films with a more feminist take!

Carrie.  The ultimate PMS film. I LOVE this movie.

Alien.  Sigourney Weaver stars as the coolest heroine ever in the space set horror. Always a treat to watch.

The Babadook. This film is about a protective mother who faces horror in her own home. It’s considered one of the best scary movies of the recent years, definitely check it out!

Happy Death Day. A Horror slasher film that’s also a black comedy starring a badass college student who has to take control of her narrative.

Rosemary’s Baby. The classic from the 60’s that is a must see about pregnancy and psychological horror.

The Witch. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy who just killed it as Emma in the new adaptation, The Witch propelled her to stardom, set in the 1600’s about a witch hunt and being female.

Scream.  It’s a classic for a reason and it features an all star cast of women, Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, and Courtney Cox.
