It’s finally my favorite time of year.  The time of year when we get The Bachelorette!

Who wouldn’t want to watch a bunch of hot men in swimsuits competing for the love of a woman?

But what makes it even better this season is there is not one, but two Bachelorettes!

The last couple of seasons of The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise have been complete trainwrecks.

First we had the pandemic that just killed the whole vibe.  The exciting part about the series is seeing where they all travel and getting to see the world from the eyes of the crazy cast members.  But with the pandemic, they were restricted to a single setting and very lack luster date ideas.

The dates that normally sweep the candidates out on a helicopter ride over a city, or horseback riding thru a mountain pass, or even just dancing under a giant ballroom with some unknown musical band that they have to pretend to love were unable to happen as the scope of the show had to narrow down to the single location where they could all quarantine together.

It was certainly interesting to see everyone hanging out together at a single location and the short tales of quarantine and pandemic times we heard from the candidates.  I wanted more of it, we as a country, and as a world were bonded together by this shared experience.

And yet what we got was more drama, drama and catfighting between the candidates because there wasn’t anything else to show…

But this season takes that and throws it on its head… supposedly.

This season we have two Bachelorettes to root for, two women that are the heroes of the franchise, and two friends that are rooting for each other!

This is going to be the ultimate season about girl power and girl code.  As friends you root for your girls to find love, you want them to find success, and I’m hoping this is the relationship we get between these two leads, Gabby and Rachel.

But if I know anything about the Bachelor, they’ll want as much drama as possible, but I hope they keep this about the men.  I want to see empowered girlfriends making decisions, helping one another, and real girl talk, as opposed to the lead talking to the distant host.

This is the season where we could see a flip from the entitled star who thinks that the relationship of love goes only one way, and start to see that these girls need to take in how the men feel about them too.

After a harrowing breakup last season on The Bachelor, Gabby and Rachel were part of the last three group of girls standing for the leading man Clayton.  Clayton told each of them that he loved them, slept with a couple of them, and then ultimately broke up with these two girls TOGETHER IN THE SAME ROOM AS IF THEY WERE A UNIT.  He didn’t even have the decency to realize that they are both very different people and so did it all in one go.

These girls, particularly Gabby, were very vocal about being separate human beings with emotions and really trashed Clayton for his treatment of them during the course of the production.  So hopefully with experience comes more humanity.

We’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m lifting up a rose to each of these girls for them to fight for love, not alone, but together as friends.
