Even though we’re stuck indoors, either because of the weather, or because of the pandemic, there are still ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day from the comfort of your home!
Here are some promising ideas to get you started, whether your day is with a partner, or taking care of your own needs. I know I’ll at least be eating a mountain of chocolate!
Start with Breakfast in Bed. You can’t start too early! Maybe you want to watch the sunrise? Or make yourself your favorite cup of coffee or breakfast. Read a magazine or do a crossword in bed. Relax and enjoy!
Have dinner in an unusual place. Whether this means having dinner on a picnic blanket in your living room, or placing your table next to your backyard window, so you can see the snow, eat somewhere different so it feels like you’ve “gone out.”
Watch a Lecture. Find a lecture on YouTube that sparks your interest! There are so many different subjects that might spark your interest! Why not learn more about 19th Century English Enlightenment, the Architecture of Versailles, the Mayan Civilization, or Japanese cooking? There is always something to learn! My boyfriend and I have enjoyed going through the Great Courses lecture series on Rome, and then after we watch a lecture we cook spaghetti or pizza to pretend we’re in Italy!
Take a Cooking Class. You can find classes for free on YouTube and Eventbrite, or you can take a course from Sur La Table or Coursehorse. I’ve loved hanging out with my family from afar through cooking the same meal. It’s also a sexy and new idea for your Valentine’s Day plans.
Play a Game. Get out those old school board games or try a new one. Some of my favorites I’ve found during the pandemic have been Splendor, Talisman, and Ticket to Ride.
Try a Virtual Painting Class. You can just look up Bob Ross episodes on YouTube and paint with your loved ones virtually or for a fun date night! It will leave you smiling with his references to “happy little clouds.”
Watch a Comedy Show. Maybe you need something to laugh about! There are some great comedy shows on Netflix and you can also find them on YouTube. It’s fun to try something different.
Go to a Virtual Burlesque Show. Maybe you want to lean into the sexy times of Valentines Day, why not try going to a virtual Burlesque show?
Have a Paris Themed Night. This might include making French food and watching a French film. Maybe break out some sexy French accents if you feel in the mood. We have some amazing French dessert recipes this month that you definitely need to try!
Try a Chocolate Recipe. Is it even Valentines Day if there is no chocolate? Chocolate is kind of the point right? We have an amazing chocolate truffle recipe this month on our blog for your chocolate obsessed pleasure.
