Have you had enough of Netflix to last you a lifetime?

I know I haven’t, I love Netflix and love watching their holiday movies, but I’m ready to do something new after a year and a half of solely movie nights with my S.O. during the pandemic.

It’s time for us to get out of the house, or at least get our eyes away from being glued to a screen and see what else there is to do in a slowly opening up world.

And everyone has different levels of comfort, so whether you make it to a restaurant inside again, or just have a picnic on the living room floor at home, they’re both great options for a date night.

Have a picnic as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Picnic on the Living Room Floor.  Grab that blanket and set up camp.  It’s fun to get a new perspective (literally).  Grab a seat on the floor and grab your favorite foods, I’m always down for a charcuterie dinner!  My aunt recently turned me on to honeycomb and it’s delicious and looks so classy on a cheese platter!

Take a dance class as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Take a dance class.  Find a channel on YouTube, or use the Peloton App, or even a studio in your home town.  My S.O. and I want to try to take a salsa class, and dancing from the comfort of our home is perfect!  We’re terrible dancers so no one has to see us flailing around and it’s so fun!

Be a tourist as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Be a Tourist.  You can be a tourist in your own city.  Go out and have an adventure!  Go somewhere you’ve never been before, go try something new, you might find you like it!

Learning anything as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Learn Something Together.  Why not watch a lecture on youtube or use the Itunes University app?  There’s always something more to learn!  I love having a podcast book club with my S.O.  He doesn’t have as much time to read, so instead we go back and forth on what our picks are for the podcast we listen to and talk about together.

Going to the theatre as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Go to the Theatre.  Why not take a night off and go watch some live theatre.  With theatre finally opening up, go out and support the artists and see a show on your local stage.

Creating a scavenger hunt as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Plan a Scavenger Hunt.  Each of you can pick a couple of things to find!  Then go off and find them together around the house or your neighborhood!

Taking a yoga class as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Take a Yoga Class Together.  It’s nice to just live in the moment and breathe together.  Yoga is relaxing and you always feel better after the class.

Learn a Language Together.  Decide to learn a new language!  Either take a class or just practice on Duo-Lingo!

Cooking as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Cook Something New.  Take out that cookbook you’ve been meaning to use for forever and turn it open to a random page and do it!  Or find something you’ve been wanting to try on the internet and make it together.

Ice Skating as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Go Ice Skating.  Grab some skates and go for the ultimate winter night out.  Why not get a cup of hot chocolate along the way?

Snowman making as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Make a Snowman.  Roll up that snow and make a snowman.  Make a name for your new friend and hang out with a warm drink.

Baking gingerbread or a gingerbread house as an idea for winter dates that aren't Netflix.

Decorate a Gingerbread House.  Grab a kit from trader joes or if you’re ambitious, try to make it yourself, and decorate a gingerbread home!
