Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

My boys and have always planned family theme costumes, gone trick or treating, and have started our own form of a haunted trail in our neighborhood.  We don’t know what to expect this year.  I haven’t seen the Halloween Superstores opening up and the Halloween decorations seem to be very scarce.  However, I think Halloween is the perfect holiday to celebrate during COVID 19.  First, it’s done outside and second we wear masks!  Perfect right??  This is the year that funny, scary, and just anything goes masks are going to sell out.

While I know we are going to have to make adjustments to our traditions, some can stay the same and we have the opportunity to create new ones.

Here are some ideas that I have come up with to continue our traditions and create new ones:

Pumpkin carving: this is an old tradition for me and we do it outside so we don’t have to worry about making a mess.

Make your own masks: not just the COVID coverings, but have fun with paper mache, cloth, plastic, and paint.

Halloween/Haunted House Bingo: drive or walk around your neighborhood looking for scary or fun Halloween decorations.

Enjoy family Halloween movies:  Free Form has already released their schedule.

Take a drive to see the leaves change to the beautiful autumn colors

I’m still adjusting to the “new normal” and learning that we have to make changes in our life, however, we can still dress up on All Hallows Eve and enjoy one of the best holidays with our family and “pod” friends.  Stay safe and healthy!
