Ready for some spooky ghosts made from meringues?  This recipe is so boo-tiful.

I love the crisp crunch of a meringue, and a meringue with cute ghostly eyes staring back at you?  Even more fun to eat.

This is a perfect recipe for a Halloween party or even cooking at home with your kids, it’s sure to entertain everyone.

What you need:

  • 5 large egg whites
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Candy Eyes
  • Parchment Paper

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.  Line the baking sheet with parchment paper
  2. In a bowl beat the egg whites (make sure NO YOLK goes into the bowl or else it won’t work) and vanilla.  The egg whites should slowly rise and you should be able to turn the bowl over your head and the eggs won’t fall out.  Beat them real good!
  3. Add the sugar in gradually, the eggs should have stiff peaks
  4. Spoon the meringue into a piping bag and pipe swirls of meringue onto the baking sheet with the parchment paper.
  5. Add the candy eyes to each meringue.
  6. Bake the meringues in the oven for one hour and a half, the meringues should be dry and crisp.
  7. Turn off the oven, but keep the meringue ghosts in there and continue to dry for a couple of hours.
