If you’re like me, you have a bunch of random sauces just taking up space in your cabinets. I bought some Hoisin sauce for a recipe, some soy sauce for some sushi, honey for something else. Let’s stop letting them take up our valuable space and use them to flavor our quarantine foods! And best of all, you just throw everything into a slow cooker and let it do the work!
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken breasts (or any chicken you can get a hold of)
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (you can use any kind of oil)
- 4 minced cloves of garlic
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- ¼ cup jam of any kind (adds the sweetness)
- ½ cup onions
- a sprinkling of red pepper flakes
- 1 cup of rice
Directions:
- Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, oil, garlic and onions
- put the chicken in the crock pot
- pour the honey sauce combo over the chicken
- Cook on “high” for 5 hours
- Cook the rice about 20 minutes before the chicken is done
- Shred the chicken after the 5 hours
- Take out all the liquid from the crock pot and add it to a saucepan, let the sauce cook and reduce until its thicker for about 6 minutes
