The Fall is finally here!

What are your favorite traditions for the fall?

And really, is your pumpkin spiced latte half full or half empty?

I know as a California transplant now living in New York I’ve had to adjust to the fact that weather exists!  There’s more than just 70 degrees and sunshine.

It’s been a hard adjustment, but instead of dreading the end of summer, I now celebrate the start of Fall.

And if you’re a summer loving girl, here are some ways to fall in love with the autumn.

  1. Create a ritual.  Embrace the season and learn what you love!  Why not try opening up that box of sweaters you’ve stored away and seeing which ones you love and which ones you can donate?  Or embrace them all and have a fashion show with your friends.  Put them all up in your closet so they’re ready to go or create a different ritual, perhaps by drinking some delicious tea in your garden.
  2. Embrace Hot Drinks.  This is the season for Pumpkin Spiced Lattes!  Could there be anything better?  Grab that pumpkin-y drink or a warm tea, a hot cider, or a hot chocolate and sit by a fire.
  3. Also Hot Meals.  Don’t forget soup!  It’s so easy to make and is always filling and delicious.  I also love any kind of savory pie, does that include quiche?  That’s my favorite!
  4. Leaf Peep.  Start to look at all the beautiful fall colors, you never know what you might find.  The colors continue to change each day, so look out the window, or go for a short walk, the world around you is so lovely.
  5. Decorate Your Home.  Pull out those fall pillows or little pumpkins.  Go to trader joes and grab some inexpensive decorative gourds and create a little display.  It will get you in the mood and allow your creativity to come out.
  6. Put on that new Look.  It’s boot and sweater time!  Take out all those boots you’ve stashed in your closet and enjoy the lovely cooler weather.
  7. Light that Candle.  It is candle season.  I love anything that smells a little woodsy, but there are also some candles that are like pumpkins.  I try to buy them on sale at the end of the season and I save them for a year so I have the right seasonal scent.
  8. Cozy Night In.  You know what the fall means?  It means you can stay in and watch Netflix without feeling guilty.  It’s a bit cold outside, stay in and watch Stranger Things.  The cool air makes you want to get under a blanket and light a fire, enjoy the autumn under the covers, or with that hot bubble bath you couldn’t take during the summer.
  9. Halloween!  The greatest holiday of them all is almost upon us, grab some wild clothes out of your closet and make an easy costume for the season.

There is so much to love about the fall and I want to know what makes you love the season!  Email me at alice@jubilance.com to let me know what you love the most.
