I wish you a happy February,  and that you don’t get caught up in needing someone else to send you flowers this month or any month!  There has been a great deal of chatter, singing and dancing to the new Miley Cyrus song “Flowers.”

I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor came out while I was in college and I  remember singing that song at the top of my lungs and dancing with my friends.  Gaynor’s song did “survive” and while it may have been first played in my dorm room to relieve heartache, I love that for 45 years it is still a staple on every playlist for break ups and can fill any dance floor.

As you may know from my previous blogs I love flowers, gardening, and especially growing roses.  Cyrus’s new song “Flowers” inspired me to remind you that you do not need to wait for someone to bring you flowers.  You don’t even need a fancy vase; you can get one second had at a thrift store or perhaps a friend of relative has one just sitting on a shelf that they don’t use.  I often fill mason or spaghetti jars with bouquets.

While I grow my own flowers, I also look for deals on fresh bouquets.  Look in your local store for a section that marks down bouquets that may be a bit past peak.  Buy them prune them and arrange in a smaller container.

I also want to encourage you to try to grow the Jubilance Seed Paper Bookmark.  Your Jubilance starter kit included the bookmark, let us know if you need a replacement with your next shipment.

Galentine’s is celebrated once a year but why not all year long?  I like to write my girlfriends notes on Flower stationery for absolutely no reason and sometimes I include a seed packet of California Poppies or Forget Me Nots.  I don’t need to buy or send an expensive bouquet, but the gesture is always welcome, and my friends know I am thinking of them.

So, the mantra I repeated to my three daughters as they were growing up seems appropriate to share “Love yourself and Love each other!”  Reach out to your loved ones and then of course buy yourself flowers!
