In this time of panic and uncertainty, stress can get the better of us.

Medical experts can tell us how to stay safe, but when it comes to staying sane in the process, we need to lean on each other. That’s why the Jubilance Sisterhood exists, for women to lift each other up.

Today, the Jubilee’s own Kellidawn, a teacher and mother of three boys, shares her journey in keeping her family, and herself, together amidst the fallout of COVID19.

We hope her victories can offer some tips and her struggles can let you know you’re not alone.

Enjoy Kellidawn’s article below. More insight on COVID19 from the Jubilance Sisterhood will be available in the days to come.

One Day At A Time

These are stressful times and this is such an unprecedented event. I hope you are doing well, and keeping social distance. It’s hard and boring and Netflix can only entertain us so much….come on Love is Blind, I can’t believe I watched it!

As a mom with three very active boys, I’ve had to be creative and calm. Calm is the key word. In my head I have no answers for my kids and I just say, “we are taking this one day at a time. What do you want to do at home today?” Lucky for me, they love to read, jump on the greatest invention for parents, “the trampoline”, and enjoy watching movies. I have taken this opportunity to introduce them to some 80s classics!

I’m stressed and feeling anxious. My boys don’t really ask too many questions, but they know what is happening. This week we are enjoying spring break. We love being outdoors, so going on walks and bike rides has broken up our time and reduced our anxiety. The weather has been amazing and that vitamin D is good for everyone!

We’ve experienced some serious family game nights too! After a long game of Sorry! or Spoons, we relax with a movie and popcorn. This is the time to be together and enjoy your loved ones. As a parent I’ve realized that this is my time to spend with my boys, and make it memorable. I’ve decided to appreciate it as more time with my family that I would never get.

Remember as long as you and your kids are happy and content right now, that’s ok. It’s not the time to worry and stress about screen time, devices, or electronics. If anything, ask them to show you a thing or two and you just might learn something. And speaking of learning, my spring break will end soon and then I have to start planning for online classes for my students…. wish me luck! I’ll let you know how that goes!

In the meantime take your Jubilance, relax, enjoy your time with your family, and do at least one thing a day for yourself. Stay healthy, reach out to friends and family, and take one day at a time.
